It is a 97-mile short line running from Ayer Junction, Washington, to Forebay, Idaho. The line was originally part of the Camas Prairie Railroad Company which was started in 1909. Watco purchased the line in 2004 and renamed it the Great Northwest Railroad.5Major Interstates/Highways US-12 cuts through the southwest corner of the county, connecting Orono to Kamiah in the south and Lewiston in the west.
